We generally recommend that children be at least 6 years old when beginning private music lessons with us. While every child is different, we’ve found that around this age, most students are better prepared for the focus, coordination, and ability to follow instruction that weekly private lessons require.

Yes! It’s never too late to start learning a musical instrument! Whether you’re just beginning, picking up an instrument after taking some time off, or feeling stuck in your individual practice, we’re always happy to help adult students with their musical goals.

Absolutely! We love having the opportunity to start someone on their musical journey.

While students are not required to have their own instrument, we highly recommend having an instrument available for practice at home. Regular practice between lessons is an important part of learning to play, and students who are able to practice consistently tend to make much faster progress.

Without regular access to an instrument outside of lessons, it can be difficult for students to retain what they’ve learned and build on those skills from week to week. The more opportunities a student has to practice at home, the more they’ll get out of their lessons and the faster they’ll progress.

Weekly lessons provide instruction, but it’s the practice between lessons that allows those skills to develop.

We offer both 30- and 60-minute weekly lessons. For most students, we recommend starting with 30-minute lessons. A full hour of focused instruction can be a lot to take in when a student is just getting started, especially for younger students.

As students grow in their skills, stamina, and confidence, they may benefit from longer lessons. If it seems like a 60-minute lesson would be a better fit down the road, you can always switch!

We teach Mondays through Thursdays.

You’re welcome to let us know what days and times work best for you, but we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to accommodate a specific request. Our schedules generally stay full, so new students are placed in lesson openings as they become available.

If we don’t currently have an opening that fits your schedule, we can add you to our waitlist. The more flexible you can be with your schedule, the more likely we are to find an opening that works for you.

We teach our lessons out of our home in North Macon. We are located at 1654 Wesleyan Drive.

Our Rock Band Program and Group Ensembles are designed for students who already have basic skills on their instrument. They are not starter-level classes. Students must be evaluated before joining to make sure they have the foundational skills needed to successfully participate.

If a student is not quite ready for our Rock Band or Ensemble classes, we recommend getting into private lessons so we can help them develop the skills they need to eventually join the bands.

We have recitals at the end of every lessons semester – so every 4 months. They take place in April, August, and December.

No. Though we do encourage all of our students to participate in the recitals, regardless of their skill level, it is never required. We understand that some students might not feel comfortable performing in front of others.

However, there’s only one way to overcome that fear! 😉 Performing takes practice, just like any other skill.
